Well, I have made it through a computer class. I learned a great deal and really liked the teacher. My brother suggested that I take a basic computer class and learn more of what I don't know. If I had time, I would take his advice. However, I did write down notes about new ways to access things and shortcut keystrokes. All in all, I enjoyed this class because it will be directly beneficial to my future as a teacher.
(**Thanks, Pam. You were a great teacher and very patient. Elisa)

The Cultural Awareness activity we did was really good for me. I was able to really challenge myself in remembering all the ways to set up portlets. It was the first activity that I did not have to ask anyone any "how do I" questions. I now think I could set up my own UEN webpage for my own classroom. Secondly, I liked learning about Microsoft Publisher. I had never used this program before. I found it to be a lot like PowerPoint, and I was able to create both my brochure and flyer. I will use this program now for my own children.

This past week was an interesting experience for me. I had a lot of fun learning about Picasa and editing my pictures. I will use this program from now on, and I am motivated to actually start taking pictures of my kids using my digital camera instead of my 35 mm. Though I have had trouble uploading and emailing the file, this was still my favorite assignment so far.
I also got started on the Internet Awareness activity. I have completed the readings and questions. I had a bogus website (tree octopuses) that was really funny. I kept reading the material thinking that I had never heard of a tree octopus and that this website had to be a joke. When I finally read the part about people hurting too many pumpkins, I laughed at myself for being taken in for as long as I was.
Well, off to bed and another week....

Learning about Powerpoint...
I have really enjoyed learning about the many ways to use Powerpoint. So far, I have created four project powerpoints for Monday's assignment. I might create more since I am getting faster.
Tonight I hosted a family party and took a lot of pictures. A wild thunderstorm blew through and the sky was breathtaking. I am planning on putting these pictures in my web album. I hope it will turn out as beautiful as the night sky in Draper.
Well, on to a new week...

I'm thinking it's Sunday....
So, I am sitting down to make sure all of my Monday homework is done (including my blog) when I suddenly realize that today is not Sunday and tomorrow is not Monday. Holiday weekends always mess with my schedule. So, I am technically blogging for what is now last week. I realize you may not be able to give me points for this.
This was my favorite week so far. I loved learning about cameras. I bought my first digital camera a couple of months ago and have never even read the manual. My daughter took over my camera and used it for her digital photography class in high school this semester. Since her class is now over this week, I have regained control of my camera and have decided to learn how to use it. I loved reading through all of the articles about cameras and how to use them. I even learned how to put on the wrist strap! Plus, I have taken pictures all weekend, including one of my son who sliced off his complete fingernail with a cheese grater. Do you have any idea how much I have paid doctors this month?..... LOL.......I hope this isn't a sign of what my summer is going to be like. If it is, at least I now know how to document it in pictures. Elisa

Another week...
Well, this week ended up being kind of crazy. I felt like I was back in the swing of things on Monday after Jessica helped me with my web page. On Tuesday night my son had severe abdominal pains and we spent Wednesday at the doctor's office running tests and having X-rays. We discovered my son's problem and he is on medicine now to correct it. Tomorrow (Monday) he can finally go back to school.
As far as my country project goes, I feel confident in all that I learned in class last Monday. I was able to pretty much complete that assignment, and now I am working on the second assignment. This class challenges me. I can't just look up the answers in a book. However, I like learning and you are a patient teacher.

Thoughts from the week of May 10th...
This was an exciting week for me. I created my first Web Page all by myself. My two older children were begging me to help, but I figured things out with only a few questions. I learned how to copy pictures onto the web page and I also learned how to link to other websites. I am really liking this class and what I am learning. As long as you don't ask me to play XBox, then I might just do well in this class and use what I have learned in many areas of my future. Thanks. Elisa

First blogging thoughts:
* I thought I knew more than I really know.
* I'm going to have to be speedy quick in order to keep up in this class.
* My 3 kids are going to love that I can blog now!
I am excited to take this class, mostly because I want to learn how to maneuver through places I can access on the internet that I have previously been afraid to experiment with. I like our professor. She is kind to answer all of the questions we are throwing her way. I am a little nervous that there are only 15 points to "play with" and still keep an A in the class. I like sitting in the front and sitting next to my friend Heddie---we work well together and keep each other updated on what is upcoming.
